About Me...
My name is Cecilia Racine and I was born in
Argentina but have lived in Washington, DC most of my life. I
have been working with pregnant women and their families for over ten
years. My career began as a social worker and has grown into my work
as a doula.
I have a Bachelor's in Sociology from Vassar
College and a
Masters in Social Work from Boston College and am licensed in the state of
Maryland. I have been a social worker in a variety of settings,
from pre-natal
clinics to hospitals. This has been the foundation for my specialization
in the field of maternal mental health. In addition I have specialized in
anxiety disorders and post-traumatic stress.

I
was trained by DONA International and became a doula in 2004. I have enjoyed working
in a variety of settings throughout the region and have been fortunate to
work with many wonderful families. I use a variety of methods
to comfort and support laboring women including massage, counter-pressure,
hydrotherapy, heat/cold compresses, breathing exercises, visualizations,
relaxation techniques, and position changes and am familiar with a variety
of childbirth methods (ex, Bradley, Lamaze, and Hypnobirthing).
I
live in Washington, DC with my wonderful husband and 3 year old daughter who was born with
the support of a doula.
